Hard Water Problems

Clothes washed in hard water can look dingy and feel scratchy. The hardness
minerals in the water combine with some soils to form insoluble salts, making
them difficult to remove. Continuously washing clothes in hard water can damage
the fibers and shorten the life span of your clothes by up to 40 percent.

Bathing with soap in hard water can leave a sticky soap film on your skin. This
film may prohibit the removal of soil and bacteria. This soap film interferes
with the skin’s PH balance and may also lead to irritation. Soap film on your
hair can make it dull, lifeless and difficult to manage.

When you wash your dishes in hard water, the minerals may leave spots or a
film on your dishes. The heat from a dishwasher can cause these minerals to be
released faster, causing an increase in the amount of spotting and filming that
occurs.

Hard water reduces the efficiency and adds to the cost of operating your water
using appliances. Heated hard water forms limescale deposits that can
contribute to the inefficient operation or cause the failure of water using
appliances. This scale can clog pipes, reduce water flow, increase energy bills
by up to 25%, and ultimately require costly repairs.
